Google Wave Invitation

As we all know, Google Wave is the new buzz and almost everyone is looking to get an account for Google Wave Preview. Google for now is taking registrations and sending the invites to the one's who register. But, it takes months to receive the invite after you register. Luckily, I got one invite from Google and after some days I was able to Invite my friends to Wave. I still have a handful of invites left on my account. It seems that Google is now planning to expand its Wave network as it is providing the Google Invitation to as many people as possible.
I hope you get your invites soon and enjoy Waving.

Search Firefox Tabs easily

Are you used to open many tabs in Firefox and end up looking for the tab you need? Well, I confess that i am one of such creatures who does this

Well, I have stopped bothering about this now because Tab File / Tab Search Extension for Firefox does the searching work for me.

Just right click the Tabs and select Filter tabs... in the Context Menu.

Type the Tab URL, Title or both in the search. All the other tabs not meeting the search criteria would be hidden and only the one's meeting the search criteria would be shown.
To get back all the tabs either press Esc or click Undo Tab Filter.

This is a real time saver.

Windows 7 - Snipping Tool

Windows 7 has come out with lots of features one of which includes Snipping Tool. Using Snipping Tool you can capture your desktop, whole window, rectangular section of a screen or use free hand.

Its a good utility if you do not want to purchase any software to meet the purpose.

There are tools like SnagIt which I prefer for screen captures but it is a paid software. Snipping Tool is not that great in editing the captured images but great if you only wanna capture the images and do a little editing.

Reduce the Start Menu in Windows 7

Windows 7 Start Menu is initially flooded with 10 recent programs. For me most of them we useless and such a big and flooded Start Menu does not look good. This is how my Start Menu looks after installation of Windows 7.

I reduced the number of recent programs from 10 to 7 using the following steps:

1. Right click on Start button and select Properties

2. This will start the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties. Click the Customize Button.

3. Clicking Customize button will open up the Customize Start Menu button. Now change the Number of recent programs to display to whatever value you want.

This is it :D  Now Windows 7 Start Menu looks clean and neat with as many recent programs you need.

Windows 7 Snap Feature – Resize and Compare windows on Desktop

Windows 7 has come out with lots of new features like Peek, Shake, Snap.

Snap is a new way to resize the open windows  simply by dragging them to the edges of the screen. Expanding it vertically, appear side by side with another window totally depends on where you drag the window.

Remember how pain it was to compare two windows in Windows XP? But with Snap in Windows 7 its just a matter of seconds. The only thing you need to know is where to drag the windows :D

Take a quick look at the video which shows the use of Snap.

SlickRun

SlickRun is a free floating command line utility for Windows. SlickRun gives you almost instant access to any program or website. SlickRun allows you to create command aliases (known as MagicWords), so C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe becomes MAIL.

Enter a web URL into SlickRun and it will launch your browser and navigate to the specified address. Run multiple programs in a few keystrokes, jot a note, look up a definition… SlickRun is the most natural way to interact with your computer.

I have been using SlickRun since years now and I find this utility very helpful. Saves me efforts to use the mouse and open the programs :) It has become a mandatory software for my machine. Each application I install the next step I do is create a MagicWord for it :)
