Best IM Client - Digsby

Its a race of IM Clients with so many free IM Clients available in the market (Pidgin, Miranda, Digsby to name some). But my personal favorite remains Digsby due to its wide range of IM services, integrity with Social networks and Email Notification services.

Digsby can be totally personalized to suit your moods. You can change its look and feel using different application skins. You can change the way your conversation looks by changing the themes of conversations. Buddy List can be arranged and displayed as per your needs. You can group your buddies depending on the IM they use, resize the buddy icon size and much more. You can customize the notifications to enable and disable depending on your preference.

The best part of all this personalization is it follows you from place to place as all the customizations are synchronized between computers and installations. You customize it on one machine, install Digsby on another machine, login with same credentials and your settings would be the same.

Instant Messaging
  • Digsby is a multiprotocol IM Client that lets you chat with all your friends on AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, Google Talk, and Jabber with one simple to manage buddy list.
  • You can configure Facebook Chat from Digsby which means you can chat with your Facebook friends without logging on to Facebook. Quite helpful if Facebook is blocked in your office network.
  • Tabbed chatting - Enables you to have multiple conversations in a single window with separate tabs. You can drag tabs out into their own windows for important conversations.
  • If one of your friends has more than one IM account you can combine them into a single merged contact to eliminate duplicate buddies.
  • You can send SMS to your friends right from the IM window.
  • Popup notification when you receive messages from friends. You can quickly reply back in the same popup window without opening the main chat window.
  • Conversation history is logged and has search enabled log viewer.
Email
Other than handling IM Clients Digsby smartly adds the feature to receive email notifications and quickly delete or report spam the emails with just single click.
  • Manage your Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo Mail, AOL/AIM Mail, IMAP, and POP accounts right from digsby.
  • Get popup notifications when new email arrives. Clicking a popup takes you right to the message with auto-login into webmail accounts.
  • The email InfoBox gives you a snapshot of your unread messages with just one click
  • Perform actions such as "Mark as Read" or "Report Spam" right from the email InfoBox.
  • Send emails to your friends right from the IM window. The email is sent directly from any account digsby is tracking for you.
Social Networking
  • Stay up to date with everything happening on your Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and LinkedIn accounts.
  • Receive alerts of events such as new friend requests, messages, group invites, etc.
  • The social network InfoBox gives you a real time NewsFeed of what your friends are up to. Everything from new photos, to status updates, to upcoming birthdays is just a click away.
  • Set your Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn status right from Digsby.
One more cool feature of Digsby is you can place a widget on your blog, website, or social network profile so you can chat with visitors right from Digsby.

Hi Erick,
Thanks to you for making such a beautiful software. It has really changed the way I use IM's and social networking. It is really amazing. I would prefer Digsby to do 1 thing. Create a community where people can share their thoughts to make Digsby even better. Something where people can ask for new features and Digsby can deliver features which people need. This would help both Digsby and its users :)
